This is a compilation of some of the TV interviews and reviews we had before and just after our May 2009 concert.

Agenda Culturel

Nayla Rached from the  ”Agenda Culturel” has published a review about Meen’s latest concert in Tayouneh. she wrote:

Meen: concert rock  « libnene ». Depuis le temps qu’on m’en parle, il était temps de partir a la découverte. Et ce fut une découverte, un spectacle un peu comique, un peu kitsch, a la libanaise, typiquement a la libanaise, comme le personnage clé d’une des chansons « Oum Georges », née de l’imaginaire tordant des deux frères Fouad et Toni Yammine. Le chanteur et le guitariste étaient accompagnes a l’Espace Tournesol de Bernard Najem au synthé, de Makram Abu el-husn a la basse, de Joseph Hammam a la guitare électrique et d’une chorale de trois voix féminines. Fouad chante, mais il joue aussi, mime, sautille, gueule, s’enflamme, pave la voie… et voila le premier coup de grâce : une troupe de zaffé manipulant légèreté et force, prend d’assaut la scène. Fouad chante « l’ondoiement d’une hanche », « les recoins d’un cœur délaissé », nos « wizarat » qui découragent la culture, qui polluent l’environnement…

Meen célèbre toute une génération ; et voila le deuxième coup de grâce : sur l’écran se profile le générique de Jongar, personnage Manga a l’instar de Grendizer. La salle exulte jusqu’au bouquet final : « nachid el-banadoura », le moto de Meen.

Meen’s Concert Today

We are so excited about our concert today. We spent the last 72 hours in the theatre preparing (the picture above was taken on the last rehearsal Friday,  with my cell phone).

We will be having an interview Today on Mtv at 9:45 and we will be talking about the band and the concert. Also, check out the article about Meen’s concert  in al-Akhbar today.

Some updates

As you know, we are having our next concert the 30th of May. We had lots of events and activities during the past two and half years, but this concert is kind of special as it will be 100% produced by Meen (as the one we had in November 2006, when we launched the band).

We are kind of taken by the preparation. Meanwhile, we will keep you posted with all the news.

redleb.com has posted a nice teaser for our next interview on their website this Monday.

“The local music scene is a thriving one, and with all the talent around the only problem I can see is that musicians take themselves too seriously; Meen throws it all out of the window, pellets it with tomatoes, and mails it to China in an Adidas shoe box. We’ve had enough sobriety here, what we need is laughter.”
