Meen will be performing the 13th of December within the Gebran Tueini’s reminiscence event.

We wrote five new songs for the event and we will be performing them live. If you cannot make it to the “palais des congres”, where the event will take place, you can always watch it on TV as it will broadcasted live on LBC at 5:00 pm.  A free cd of our new five songs will be distributed. Try to make it.

It’s been around three weeks that we are working on our new project (produced by Annahar newspaper).  We wrote five new songs never ever been released or been played in any concert before!!

We spent the last few days recording these songs. We have few more tracks to add and we will be mixing next week.  These five new songs will be released the 13th of Dec.

Who’s Meen? 
We are superheroes.  And when we’re not busy saving the world, we work as rock musicians. That’s why Toni keeps his glasses on when he’s on stage.  Fouad sometimes has to be reminded not to put his underwear over his trousers before a performance.

What’s the story behind the name?
Meen is the name of an ancient Lebanese goddess who was worshipped for having killer legs.   Legend has it that she lived in Bqeseen, and died in mysterious circumstances.  Folklore has it that she committed suicide by leaping off a ninth-floor balcony, but historians suggest she may have choked on her arguileh.

Where do you get your inspiration?
We don’t get inspired; we just steal ideas from other people.

What’s with the tomatoes?
Haven’t you been at countless performances where you felt you could only express your opinion by pelting the artist with tomatoes?

You don’t act or look like your typical rock band.  Is this intentional or is this just you?
Well, obviously.  Do you want us to turn up in our superhero costumes?  Of course it’s intentional, fool.

Do you have any upcoming events planned?
Yes.

Have you cut any records yet?  Any plans for a future record?
We are in the process of recording our first album.  As for the release date; we have to consult Madame Catriona, on her psychic phone hotline.  Do you have any spare change?

Who are some of your favorite artists?
We used to be into boring crap like the Beatles, Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd, but Jad Choueiri’s first single was a revelation and life-changing experience.

“khabriyeh“, the short movie by Fouad Yammine,  won another award and added the Ehdeniyat “Golden Apple Awards 2008″  to the list.

The award distribution ceremony took place at Ehden yesterday, where 25 movies from all cinema schools in Lebanon were participating. “Khabrieh” won the 3rd prize,  the second prize went to Lea Cremona (USJ)  for her movie “sana hilwa”, and the frist prize went to Assi Rahbani (USEK), the son of Ziad Rahbani, for his movie “Beyrouth wa Beyrouth wa Beyrouth”.

Note that khabriyeh already won the first prize at the latest European festival in Lebanon earlier this year, as well as the Partamian best script award.

In part of an event organized by P&B’z, Meen will be performing friday 11th of April 2008 at the Unesco Palace - Beirut. Tickets for 10,000L.L and money goes to charities.

khabriyé, the first short movie by Fouad Yammine, won the First prize in the 14^th European Film Festival, the most respected film festival in Lebanon, that took place the last 10 days at Beirut (cinema six Ashrafieh). 21 short movies from all Lebanese cinema schools were participating (IESAV USJ, ALBA, USEK, LAU, NDU, UL).

Fouad’s movie was representing the Lebanese university, that does not have a cinema school, but a theatre department, and theatre students do shot a short movie, along with other projects, for graduation.

Usually, in the European Film Festival, the jury selects 4 movies for the first, the second, and the third prize, and another jury award. But this year, things were a bit different, and there were only a First Prize that was divided between two movies, Khabriyé by Fouad Yammine (UL), and La Berceuse by Serena Abi Aad (IESAV). The other awards were canceled.

The French ambassador was distributing the award, and explained that Khabriyé won the first prize because of the high production values in the movie, beside an exceptional scenario, and great directing skills.

When receiving the award, Fouad offered the award to the Lebanese University, which is winning this title for the first time, and thanked everyone that helped him with the movie.
